Underage-Friendly Nightlife in San Francisco, Ca.

San Francisco is a tough place to be when you’re underage and looking to go out. If you’re sick of movies and bowling (or sick of getting carded), try these 18+ and all-ages spots for everything from club dancing to late-night music and food.

Underage-Friendly Nightlife Locations in
San Francisco from Citysearch:

City Nights
715 Harrison Street, San Francisco, CA
Poles and cages and catwalks, oh my! Friday and Saturday night crowd is underage and under-supervised, but it’s a place to get your dance on.

330 Ritch
330 Ritch St, San Francisco, CA
This dance spot is home to young hipsters and offers decent live shows, and it often books smaller bands right before they get big.

Club NV
520 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA
This normally 21+ club now hosts 18+ $2 Tuesdays.

Slim's

333 11th St, San Francisco, CA
A somewhat grungy SoMa music venue features names from Switchfoot to Vanessa Carlton. The place has multiple levels and serves pub-grub-style food.

Grubstake
1525 Pine St, San Francisco, CA
This diner is the place to go if you need a bite when everything else is closed. Over-21 clubbers hit Grubstake at the end of the night, so it’s packed after 2am.

Tart to Tart
641 Irving St, San Francisco, CA
Open late and easily accessible by MUNI, the three Tart to Tart locations will satisfy your midnight sweet tooth and they each have plenty of space for groups.

Family Billiards
2807 Geary Blvd, San Francisco, CA
Despite its name, this is by no means a family establishment. Family Billiards is 18+ and serves drinks for the older pool sharks and bar food for all. Go with a group of friends and play at any level of experience.

Ashkenaz
1317 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA
Sociable (and fairly political) hippie vibe and live world music make this nonprofit a safe bet for underagers looking to dance.

924 Gilman Street
924 Gilman St, Berkeley, CA
An alcohol-free Berkeley punk scene where big bands like Green Day cut their teeth.

Biscuits and Blues
401 Mason St, San Francisco, CA
This all-ages blues club may be a little pricey for an under-21 crowd, but it’s a classier scene than the 18+ dance clubs and serves food until 11pm.

Yoshi's Jazz House & Restaurant
510 Embarcadero W, Oakland, CA
Also a step up--or a whole staircase up--from typical all-ages nightclubs, Yoshi’s is great for an elegant night of jazz.

Cobb's Comedy Club
915 Columbus Ave, San Francisco, CA
Look out for discount nights at this North Beach comedy hot spot that hosts big-name guests like Larry David and Darrell Hammond. Arrive early to make sure you’ll get in.
